Heavy Items List and Policy

Purpose and Importance

The Heavy Items Policy protects both customers and crew by ensuring large, bulky, or overweight items are handled safely and priced fairly. These items require additional physical effort, time, and specialized equipment to prevent injury or property damage. This policy outlines which items qualify as “heavy,” how they are assessed, and what flat-rate handling fees may apply.

Policy Statement

Mongold Junk Removal is committed to completing every job safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards. Heavy or oversized items may incur additional flat-rate handling fees to cover the increased labor, equipment, and risk involved in their removal or transport. All heavy item fees are disclosed to the customer before work begins whenever possible.

Definition of a Heavy Item

A “heavy item” is any object that:

  1. Requires two or more crew members to lift or move safely;

  2. Exceeds 100 pounds in weight;

  3. Is awkward in shape or size, requiring special maneuvering or equipment; or

  4. Presents an increased risk of injury or property damage if not handled with additional precautions.

Heavy Item Handling Requirements

  • Heavy items must be safely accessible and structurally stable before removal.

  • The crew leader will determine the safest method of handling and may use dollies, straps, or lifting equipment.

  • If the item cannot be safely moved without disassembly or specialized tools, the customer may be required to arrange partial dismantling prior to service.

  • If more than two crew members are required for safe handling, the Additional Crew Member Fee ($100 flat) will apply per added worker.

  • If a heavy item must be carried up or down stairs, additional Stairs and Difficult Access Fees will also apply.

  • If heavy items are discovered on-site and not reported prior to arrival, service may be delayed or rescheduled depending on crew availability.

  • Customers are responsible for any damage to flooring, stairs, or structures caused by pre-existing instability or improper installation of heavy items.

Safety and Refusal

  • The crew will not attempt to move any item that exceeds safe lifting limits or requires unsafe maneuvering.

  • If an item poses a risk of injury or damage, the job may be declined or rescheduled with proper equipment.
